Your data
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone. Velita doesn't need an account, and its estimates are calculated on your iPhone. Data only leaves your iPhone if you turn on family sync (coming in an update) or agree to share anonymous usage statistics.
How do I export my data?
In Velita, open Settings › Your data › Export my data. Velita creates a file and you choose where it goes.
How do I delete my data?
Settings › Your data › Delete all data removes every profile and sleep record from this iPhone. It can't be undone, so export first if you want a copy. Deleting the app also removes its data from the iPhone, but older copies can remain in your iCloud or computer backups until they are replaced.
How do I delete my account?
Only family sync uses an account. When it is available, you can delete your account from Velita's settings: this deletes the account and any family group where you are the last member. In a family group that still has other members, the shared sleep history stays with them. You can also write to us and we will do it for you.
Family sync and invitations
How does family sync work?
Family sync is optional and is coming in an update. Once it is on, everyone in your family group sees the same sleep log, and a change on one phone appears on the others. It needs an account (Sign in with Apple or Google) and your explicit consent, and the data is stored in the EU.
How do I invite my partner or a caregiver?
The family admin creates an invitation in Velita and shares the code. Each code works once and expires after 72 hours. The person you invite installs Velita, signs in and enters the code.
Can I choose who can edit?
Yes. When you invite someone, you choose whether they can add and edit sleep or only view it. An admin can remove a member at any time, and anyone can leave a family group.
Using Velita
What is night mode?
A dark, calm screen for the night. It opens when a night sleep is running and shows time asleep and wakings so far, with one large button: Woke up or Back asleep. Ending the night takes a deliberate step, so a sleepy tap doesn't end it by mistake. No plans and no offers at night.
Why does Velita show a range instead of an exact time?
No one can know when a baby will fall asleep. Velita shows the middle of its estimate as the window and says how sure it is. A wider window means less certainty, usually because there is little data yet or recent days have varied. Tap Why this window? to see what Velita used. So far, its accuracy has been checked on simulated data only.
Why doesn't Velita show windows for my newborn?
In the first 8 weeks (corrected age), sleep follows feeding and cues, so Velita doesn't predict windows yet. Until 16 weeks, windows are a wide guide without a countdown. If your pediatrician or midwife has asked you to wake your baby for feeds, follow their advice.
Does Velita use corrected age?
Yes. If your baby was born before 37 weeks, turn on Born early in your baby's profile. Velita uses corrected age until 2 years.
How do the Lock Screen controls work?
While a sleep is running, a Live Activity appears on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with Woke up and Back asleep. To hide your baby's name there, turn off the Show … name on the Lock Screen option in Velita's settings.
Who are Numi, Mimo and Luma?
Velita's companions. You choose one, and it keeps you company on Home: it blinks and smiles, and never judges, rewards or predicts anything. You can change it anytime in Settings.
Health and safety
Is Velita a medical device?
No. Velita is not a medical device and doesn't replace your pediatrician. It doesn't monitor breathing or reduce the risk of SIDS. Its windows are estimates, not a schedule: feed your baby when hungry and follow their cues first.
When should I call a doctor or emergency services?
Call emergency services now if your baby has trouble breathing, turns blue, gray or very pale, is floppy or very hard to wake, or has a seizure.
If your baby is under 3 months and has a temperature of 38 °C (100.4 °F) or higher, call your pediatrician right away, or emergency services if you can't reach them.
For anything else that worries you, contact your pediatrician. You know your baby best.
I need a break. Is there anything in Velita for me?
Yes. In Velita, open Settings › Guidance › Need a break. If you or your baby are in danger, call your local emergency number.
